Recap:

The race featured a field of 29 riders. Dolte Vita was represented by five riders, and San Jose had three riders, along with a significant number of solo competitors. Reflecting on last year, when I finished fourth in a bunch sprint after contesting several primes, this year I opted for a more conservative strategy. I chose not to pursue primes, instead remaining attentive to potential breakaways. From the start, Dolte Vita and two solo riders established a break, gaining a significant gap. Our group, including Red Peloton and San Jose, maintained a steady rotation to close the gap. I also contributed to the chase, especially as many riders were primarily focused on primes, which often triggered breakaway attempts. After about six or seven laps, we reeled them in and then formed a cohesive group, with San Jose consistently sprinting for primes each lap.

I remained in the pack, holding my top ten position, and stayed alert for any significant breakaway moves from Dolte Vita or San Jose. With two laps to go, I positioned myself in the top five, following a San Jose rider who attempted a lead-out. However, their lead-out faltered slightly due to fatigue, and I found myself behind a Dolte Vita rider, who was unexpectedly the team’s sprinter. He delivered an excellent lead-out, and in the final corner, I gave my all and secured the victory. It was a relatively uneventful race for me in the moment, but I’m very pleased with the outcome, as it required a great deal of self-discipline to stay patient and wait until the final lap.
