Andrew Ernst
Andrew began racing triathlons in high school and continued competing through college with the University of Wisconsin Triathlon team. During medical school, he transitioned to cycling and joined a local club team. During the pandemic, he spent most of his time doing adventure rides and completing challenges to include an Everesting, an Ironman, and a 530 mile ride in 24 hours. He moved to California in 2022 for his Physical Medicine and Rehabiliation residency at Stanford.

David Domonoske
David grew up ski racing and mountain biking. He started road racing with Alto Velo when he moved to California in 2021 and was immediately drawn to crits for their short and flat nature. He has since dedicated his time to the shortest and flattest cycling discipline - track. He has raced Team Pursuit with Team USA for the last 2 years, but you can usually find him on the peninsula doing an absurdly long training ride for somebody that races for 2 minutes.

George Wehner
George has always loved riding bikes but started road cycling seriously in 2019. George joined AVRT in 2022 to take the plunge into racing and haven't looked back since.

Henry Mallon
Henry began cycling with collegiate cross-country mountain biking in Upstate New York. After graduating and returning to California, he switched to road riding and quickly developed a love for long rides and steep climbs. Following his first season with AVRT in 2024, he’s excited to take on local races and national-level stage races with the team in 2025.

J Evans
J can't remember the first time he rode a bike, but all throughout high school he was doing subpar tricks on his BMX bike. He started racing in 2014 in college at Stanford. His first race was only 45 minutes long, but he still managed to bonk. He reps the mid peninsula, so you can find him doing repeats on Trousdale, San Bruno Mountain, Sharp Park, or Sweeney Ridge.

Jack Liu
Jack grew up in Taiwan and got into biking after riding around the island (1,000 km) in 7 days. He started racing collegiate cycling in the US and continued racing during his time as a PhD student at Stanford in the last five years.

Jesse Hogin
Jesse now lives in Las Vegas (but he spent a lot of his childhood in Alameda and has lived all over the country, including in Alaska). He started racing in late 2022, and he became a Cat 1 in 2025. He looks forward to aiming for big results for the DET in 2026 at the biggest races. Off the bike, he's an attorney, a formidable double-nine dominoes player, and an alum—and a fanatic—of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!).

Jon Wells
Jon started bike racing in 2016 during college in Colorado after finishing his time running NCAA track. Since then he has won a collegiate team time trial national title, numerous collegiate team omnium titles, and raced all of the biggest pro crits in the US (ACC and formerly USACRITS). Off the bike, Jon moved to Sacramento this year to start a new job creating renewable fuels.

Leo Minami
Leo is a Palo Alto native who started racing in high school, picking up the hobby while learning to become a bicycle mechanic. After a long hiatus during college he resumed racing in 2022 while living in Colorado and continued to race after moving back to the Bay Area to start a job as an Aerospace Engineer.

Michael Bektas
Michael spent 11 years as a rower before discovering cycling in 2023. He grew up in London and eventually made his way from Wisconsin to San Francisco, where he now trains and races. He is excited to be joining AVRT for his first season on a Domestic Elite team.

Tom Perkins
Tom has lived in San Francisco for most of his life, and career. Starting originally on the track and later racing on the road as well, Tom has been racing since 2012. Though new to Alto Velo for 2026, he has been racing around NorCal since he was a U15 junior. Tom is usually spotted doing endurance rides when he isn’t racing around NorCal or internationally.

Louise Thomas
Louise's first introduction to bike racing was competing in unsanctioned alleycat races while working as a bike courier in Vancouver. After moving around a bit, she settled in the Bay Area during the pandemic and started racing with AVRT in 2022. When not on a bike, she works as a mechatronic engineer building agricultural robots.

Robin Betz
Robin started riding bikes while at Stanford in 2017 to take a break from being mad at the computer. She now works at biotech startup and is professionally mad at the computer, and can otherwise usually be found on Kings Mountain Road. As a cat 2 road racer, Robin enjoys battling the clock in time trials and hill climbs, and is the 2021-2022 NCNCA TT District Champion, 2020-2022 Bike Hut Classic Age Group winner, and winner of the Low Key Hill Climb series in 2022-2023. Robin also likes wrenching on bikes, descending, and eating.

Sophia Hu
Sophia started cycling during the pandemic after moving to San Francisco. She loves being a part of the local cycling community and is always up for a coffee ride. After diving into road racing in 2024, she discovered her strengths in punchy efforts and her passion for the tactical side of racing. She's excited for her first season with AVRT.

Steph Hart
Steph began riding bikes with the MIT triathlon team in 2019. While she hasn't drowned in the swim leg yet, she isn't taking any chances, and transitioned to racing on the road with Alto Velo in 2023. Steph is a fan of the stunning peninsula climbs, Skyline Blvd, coffee stops, and the occasional run. Off the bike, she works as an engineer in semiconductor research and development.

Sue Lin Holt
Sue Lin discovered bike racing in 2018 after previously competing in equestrian, running, and triathlon. She joined Alto Velo and soon ended up co-managing the women's racing team and joining the board. She particularly loves crit and track racing, but also enjoys riding gravel, running, tennis and skiing.

Born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona. Competed in Category 4 during the 2024 season.

Drew Matthews
Drew grew up riding mountain bikes in the Peninsula. After college, he really fell in love with the sport and decided to pursue racing. Cycling has been an instrumental part of healing from a chronic illness for Drew, mentally and physically. You can find him in Arastradero before sunset for a weekday recovery ride or cruising through his hometown of Portola Valley.

Jack Lund
Jack is a returning member of Alto Velo for the 2026 season. Originally from Ohio, he picked up biking after falling in love with the world class riding in California. He is a regular on weekend group rides where he might yap nonstop and/or race you to a city limit sign.

Keegan Worcester
Keegan grew up with Swimming and soccer from a young age. He even often rode road bikes from a young age on a tandem with his father. After swimming competitively in college he transitioned into triathlon in 2017 and fell in love with cycling. He did his first cat 5 criterium in 2019 and never looked back since!

Kevin Ash
Kevin was born in Colorado and got into bike racing while attending CU Boulder after meeting some people on the CU cycling team on a casual ride. He joined the CU cycling team his senior year in 2024 and has been in love with cycling and racing ever since.

Kevin Kauffman
Kevin began started cycling, like many, trying to entertain himself during Covid back home in Cincinnati. iIn the winter of 2023, he did his first cyclocross races and was hooked on racing bikes. He completed his first cycling season on Nexigen Racing, focusing on gravel and crit racing. After making it up to Cat 3, work brought him out to California where he quickly picked up riding with the AV crew, joining for the '25 season. When not spinning wheels, Kevin can be found skiing, backpacking, mountaineering, or working his day job as an Engineer in the MedTech space to pay for all the expensive hobbies.

Levi Ritter
Levi was born and raised in Los Angeles. He started racing in 2024 and has raced across the country and in internationally as a junior. Off the bike, he attends Cal State LA, studying mathematics.

Wil Gibb
Wil got his first road bike in 2020 after moving to the Bay Area to begin his medical residency. His prior background was primarily running around the flat midwest, particularly along the Chicago lakefront. He now finds flat ground boring dove headfirst into the world class climbing in the Bay Area. He first tried out racing in 2024 and looks forward to contributing to AVRT as a new team member in 2025.

Hannah Chen
Hannah biked for many years mostly as a means of commuting in NYC and San Diego. She's had a ton of fun taking it to the next level since she started racing with AV in 2024. Her favorite post ride treat is a slice of pizza

Katarina Zgraja
Katarina is a former collegiate ice hockey player who started cycling in 2015 after graduating. She joined AVRT in 2024, and is starting her second season with the team. She loves all disciplines of cycling including road and gravel, but especially loves mountain biking. Outside of cycling, she enjoys kiteboarding, rock climbing, trail running, and works at Lucid Motors as a technical project manager.

Katie Monaghan
Katie is a former collegiate field hockey player who joined AVRT last season after booming a regular on B rides in 2023. She quickly got hooked on racing due to the way it combines skill, fitness, and strategy. Katie loves a coffee stop, dynamic cries, riding camaraderie, and a good adventure ride (when Rachel Hang isn’t trying to kill her). Off the bike, she works as a physical therapist.

Robin Kutner
Robin has been a competitive distance runner for the majority of her life. In 2014, she got a running injury (classic), bought a crappy bike, and rode very far on it (until the injury healed). During covid, she transitioned to more serious cycling, and in 2023 a friend cajoled her into trying her first bike race. She joined AV shortly thereafter. Outside of cycling, Robin is a chemical engineer, mom to 2 cats, world traveler, and lover of sustainable transit.

Stephanie Hayos
Stephanie grew up riding dirt bikes, so after a running injury in college, she eventually started riding mountain bikes. Her competitive nature led her to mountain bike and road bike racing. She loves traveling to other countries to ride mountain bikes, judge the espresso culture, and pet stray cats. She's also a cat mom of 2 and construction project manager.

Adam Beliveau
Originally from Québec, Canada, Adam started his racing journey online on Zwift. Leaving his smart trainer behind when moving to California, he needed to find a suplement for the community and competiveness Zwift provided. He then joined Alto Velo in 2025 regularly attending the Sartuday A rides. He also raced a little bit, but as an independent. This year he hope to at least not get dropped at the pescadero RR.

Colin Vignon
Colin has started biking in the French Alps where he was spending his summers, and then biked for about 8 years in France. Eventually made his way from France to South Bay where he now trains and will start racing. He is excited to be joining AVRT for his first season next year.

Ethan Phelps
Ethan started riding in 2025 after a running injury but quickly fell in love with long rides and fast descents in the Santa Cruz mountains. Getting into group rides with Alto Velo and trying his first race at Pescadero further cemented his desire to try more racing in 2026. Outside of cycling you'll find him running laps around Baylands or Stanford, spending time with his wife and dog, or writing code as a software developer.

Kyle Martin
Kyle has been riding his bike since he could walk and is his best self when he does. He did his first Festive 500, indoor on a trainer. He loves the competition of racing, finding that point where one asks themselves if they can go any harder, and hopes that everyone can get home safe. Off the bike Kyle is a father and a linguist.

Paul Geliukh
After watching the 2025 Giro d’Italia, Paul decided he needed a road bike and has been hooked ever since. He’s gearing up for his first season of racing with AVRT in 2026 and already has a love–hate relationship with long climbs. When he’s not on two wheels, he works in tech and chases snow on skis and a snowboard.

Sam started cycling in 2021 and moved to California later that year. After exploring every corner of the Bay Area on a bike, he was hooked. Sam competed in his first race in 2024 and joined AVRT in 2025. Off the bike, Sam is a product manager for a solar energy startup.

Suhith Rajesh
Suhith fell in love with riding bikes in Northern California when a friend gave him a spare bike and accompanied him up Hawk Hill. Alongside racing he enjoys long rides with friends exploring the local landscape and eating pastries.

Apoorva Setlur
Apoorva spent four years as a collegiate rower before discovering her love for cycling in 2022. She joined a local women’s cycling group, which became a wonderful way to train, find a community and rediscover her hometown. Off the bike, she loves practicing martial arts, painting, and recently picked up skiing. Apoorva is thrilled to join AVRT and can’t wait to dive into the world of racing!

Cayli Reid
Cayli grew up running track and once swore to her husband she’d never love cycling more than running—then got a road bike in 2022 and promptly proved herself wrong. These days, when people ask if she still runs, she responds, “Actually, I ride bikes!” After jumping into her first races in 2025 and loving the learning curve, she’s excited to join AVRT in 2026 and experience team racing for the first time!

Ella Say
Ella raced on the UCSD Triathlon team until her graduation in 2024. Since moving in 2025, she’s been enjoying the beautiful roads in the Bay Area and is excited to start racing with the awesome women on AVRT. Ella works as a neuroscience researcher and loves surfing, trail running, and playing guitar.

Emily Selman
Emily began her athletic career as a competitive swimmer (member of the USC women’s national champion team) and performed as an aerial acrobat. Always inspired by her dad, who rides daily even in the brisk Indiana winters, Emily started riding when she moved to San Francisco and started exploring the roads of Marin. After having a couple of kids, Emily joined the AV racing team in 2024 as an excited rookie. She spends her weekdays working as a trial attorney at a San Francisco law firm.

Janene Ostrow
Janene started doing group rides in the central valley for socialization, which increased in frequency after a knee injury. She got into racing around 2019, joined AV in 2020, and then Covid hit and her racing has been sporadic since. This year she plans to be more consistent and dedicated to training. Janene is a physical therapist and loves taking international cycling holidays

Kathay Tousant
Kathay discovered cycling during the late stages of COVID after noticing riders while running through Golden Gate Park. What began with her first bike quickly grew into a passion for riding and connecting with the vibrant San Francisco cycling community. She is excited to join AV for her first official race season and looks forward to meeting the team and contributing to the group’s success.

Meghan competed in her first mountain bike race in 2023 and has since taken on everything from enduro and gravel to XCO and marathon events. She recently moved to the Bay Area and is excited to race on the road for the first time. Meghan works as a researcher at a startup company and spends her free time training, cooking, and hanging out with her cats.

Sam started cycling in 2020 and racing in triathlons in 2021. She always enjoyed cycling the most of the three sports, and she is looking forward to seeing what she can do on the bike with AVRT in 2025. Outside of cycling, she enjoys skiing, trail running, and reading, and works as a paralegal in San Francisco.

Sam started cycling in 2020, racing triathlons in 2021, and racing with AVRT in 2025. She loves all things endurance sports, whether it's on the bike, on foot, on skis, or in the water. She especially enjoys going uphill, and she's looking forward to focusing on more climby events in 2026. When off the bike, she enjoys music, reading, and writing, and works as a paralegal in San Francisco.

Sandrine Veillette
Sandy discovered cycling through triathlon at 12 years old and was instantly hooked. After racing track and cross-country in college, she kept up running but always dreamed of racing bikes. She finally dipped into racing in 2019 with CRCA in Central Park and loved it. Originally from Québec, she moved to the Bay Area recently and is excited to explore all the climbs and roads the region has to offer. Off the bike, she loves making coffee and experimenting with different brewing methods.

Bernardo Tapia
Bernardo's first tour with AVRT was from 2017 through 2019. While racing for AVRT, he regularly attended most road and crit races and earned awards for best domestique and best masters racer. Bernardo is happy to be back on AVRT for ’23 and looks forward to returning to a heavy racing schedule and putting the pandemic years behind. In 2022 he became race director for Pescadero and plans to stay in that role for the next couple of years. He is a multi-disciplined racer, frequently lining up at the start lines for XC, CX, Gravel, and Road. Most weeks he is a regular on Noon Rides and Spectrum and Wednesday afternoon Golden Spins in the summer.

Jeremy Besmer
Jeremy grew up mountain biking in Colorado, and then transitioned to road racing at the University of Colorado Boulder. After burning himself out with four years of collegiate racing, he moved to SF and spent a few years riding just for fun until he returned to serious cycling and joined AVRT in 2021. Outside of cycling, he works as a chemical engineer in biotech and enjoys traveling, skiing, climbing mountains, and being a catdad. You can often find him on long climbs or doing hundreds of laps around the Golden Gate Park polo fields.

A SoCal transplant, cycling was a training tool to bolster a collegiate running career. After "retirement" from running, Joe began cycling and raced before his local club before grad school got in the way. After a return to competitve cycling, Joe is excited to explore and race within NorCal with Alto Velo.

Matthew Younkis
Originally from Pittsburgh, Matthew began racing bicycles in 2007 in Michigan. He claims to have won three state/district championships, but is vague and evasive when pressed for details. He is currently a Cat 3 in road, and he enjoys rides with copious amounts of climbing. He also enjoys riding track racing and riding his CX bike on trails that should be ridden on a mountain bike. Professionally, Matthew directs the engineering team at a company that uses advanced algorithms to improve the efficiency of automotive powertrains.

Michael Matthews
Michael started cycling when his wife introduced him to the sport in 2015. Coming from alpine ski racing he rapidly adopting cycling racing as his competitive passion. Racing in Vancouver, BC from 2016 to 2019, he found local success in Cat 3/4 on the road and in the velodrome. Climbing is his way of meditating and he enjoys the camaraderie of AVRT. Off the bike, Michael is a Technical Project Manager and Professional Engineer for an energy company in Menlo Park.

Nicolas Delecroix
Nicolas started competing in triathlons five years ago, focusing on the half-Ironman and full-Ironman distances. He became a member of Alto Velo in 2025, where he discovered a supportive and committed cycling community. He is excited to join AVRT for his first racing season in 2026.

Shai started cycling in 2013, after many years of playing Ultimate Frisbee. He joined the Alto Velo Masters Racing Team in 2024 and is a regular in the various group rides around the peninsula. Shai is looking forward to the 2025 road racing season.

Vasyl Stokolosa
Vasyl started cycling in late 2021. Prior to cycling, he was a tennis player and competed in various UTR tournaments around the Bay Area. He began riding with Alto Velo in 2024 and is excited to start racing in the 2026 season.
