Recap (written by Vasyl Stokolosa):
Dolcevita once again brought seven riders to the race, just like in the Snelling road race, while Team California had five. Dolcevita was the main competitor we expected. After the neutral section, the Dolcevita rider attacked. Although a junior tried to follow, the officials stopped him since he wasn’t staying on the central line. We kept a steady pace, rotating well, with Clark stepping up on the front.
On the second lap, a solo rider bridged to the Dolcevita rider, and the pace slowed as no one wanted to rotate. Keegan tried to keep the pace, and halfway through the second lap, I attacked to close the gap, but it wasn’t successful. By the third lap, we caught the breakaway, and it came down to a group of about ten riders. I launched a couple more attacks, but the crosswind made it difficult, and we stayed together. In the final 3 kilometers, the junior attacked again, and though I tried to jump on, I didn’t have the legs. In the end, I fought for fourth place, losing the sprint to a solo rider. Overall, it was a really hard race, but I was feeling strong, and if I had communicated better with Keegan, maybe I could have gone solo.
