Recap (written by [Keegan Worcester]): I knew I had to be conservative with my energy throughout the race as I hadn’t slept very well the night before and was my 4th race of the series including the time trial. The p123 race took a lot out of me the day before. Things were pretty chill the first lap but the second lap was a prime lap so everyone started surging to get up the road. I made sure to stay near the front just in case there were any large splits. Jeff Yates won the sprint and everyone sat up for a short period before Jeff decided to keep going with a bit of a gap on the peleton. I wanted to mark the move but in the position I was in in the peloton I think I would have brought quite a few people with me. I tend to get marked out a lot when I try to bridge as a larger rider(big draft). I figured it would get pulled back so I didn’t want to waste the bullet. Unfortunately 2 other strong solo riders and 1 rider from velo sport made it in to the breakaway of 4. Dolce Vita and Velosport did a good job of blocking at the front and attacking the group repeatedly to dissuade any real attempts at pulling back the lead group. I did one turn for a minute or so, to help,  but immediately was attacked in the headwind section (which really hurt the legs to jump back into the bunch after getting passed by the whole field strung out). I ended up sitting in the rest of the race and playing for 5th. I was able to slowly move up positions in the draft (on the second to last straightaway before the chicane) and jumped to the wheel of a guy sprinting for the chicane. I came through the chicane 2nd wheel  just barely catching the 2 riders up the road before the finish. I opened up the sprint with everything I had (which wasn’t much having surged multiple times at this point, as soon as i stood up, all i felt was acid in my legs and honestly couldn’t tell if i was putting down any power at all, I barely hit 1000watts and my peak power fresh is 1650) and ended up in a photo finish of 4 guys on the line. About half a bike wheel from 5th I came up short in 8th.
