Alto Velo C Ride Oct 10, 2026 – Why Leave PV or LAH
Hi All,
We are avoiding Woodside this weekend because of Day of the Horse celebrations, and instead doing a bunch of hills in PV and LAH. Without leaving those areas we can get 3500 ft and 41 miles. I have added a tiny loop in the middle just so we can make 40+ miles.
We will head up to the Alpine / Portola Road intersection like we always do but this time head right up the beautiful Alpine Rd climb before turning left on Jaquin, a painful steep climb but necessary to avoid an out and back. We will meet up at the Vista Verde / Old Spanish Trail intersection and then head back to Alpine and a right turn to Arastedero. We will climb Page Mill to the park and meet up at the Vista Point. This will be our first water and bathroom break although we will likely regroup at other places.
This is where the ride brings in its novelty. We will climb up to Moody which we will descend and make a left and climb Dirt Moody. Technically it is dirt but soft compliant dirt that is easy on a road bike. We then head down to Altamont and make a quick detour on Moody to get to Rhus Ridge. We will climb that and go around a chain link that will put is on Tepa. Descending Tepa to Moody / El Monte we will pass under the freeway and turn right on Voorhees. Another quick right takes us through a path and chain link and then we head to Magdalena and around the LAGC. We hit Foothills and turn north until Campus and retreat back to Summit.
As always, I recommend downloading the route. It is officially fall and the time of the year to have fun and explore. This route is build with this idea. :-)
