AVA-E Saturday 6/20/2026 - Hwy 9 Everesting buddy laps
Hi endurance enthusiasts,
This Saturday is no ordinary Saturday, because our friend Kessler will be attempting to Everest on Hwy 9! From experience, long days on the bike are much more fun with friends, so we’re all going to go support him (but don’t worry, we won’t be doing a full Everesting).
He’ll be doing laps between Sanborn and Redwood Gulch, so we’ll ride up Redwood Gulch, descend until we find him, then turn around and do a buddy lap with him before continuing on our merry way. If you don’t feel like riding endurance-pace up Hwy 9, feel free to descend all the way to the bottom before turning around. We’ll regroup at Castle Rock.
From there, we’ll head south on Skyline, descend Old Santa Cruz Hwy, then climb Montevina where everyone will have to wait for me after the gravel section. After descending Bohlman, we’ll then go back up Hwy 9 to see how many more laps Kessler has done. If he is descending when we find him, we can turn around for another buddy lap. Otherwise, we’ll ride with him until Redwood Gulch before going back up 9 and regrouping at the fire station. To finish, we’ll take Skyline north and descend Page Mill.
