Recap (written by [Keegan Worcester]):

Most of us having raced Berkeley Hills Road race the day before and Michael Mathews on his second race of the day, we were all pretty exhausted. The race was fast from the start. Adam, Michael, and Jack were all active through the race marking moves and taking turns at the front.  I remember seeing Adam off the front around laps two or three giving a little solo effort but quickly was pulled back. Turns out Michael was blocking to help that group get a lead up the road but everything was chased back. I decided I was going to Tail gun for a little bit while everyone was getting used to taking that fast downhill right hand turn, I knew I could leave a gap and carry more speed to be efficient. Unfortunately, My Insta360 snapped off my bike from a pothole and was dangling, which I then had to rip off and put in my pocket and then sprint for 30 seconds to catch back up to the peloton. No one ever got any leeway up the road. I tried to move up positions on the downhill and conserve my energy on the uphill. With three laps to go, there was a pretty nasty crash just behind me. My old teammate Easwar (Team California) hit the deck pretty hard. This led to a break/restart wherein they added one extra lap. Four laps to go and everyone had just gotten a four minute rest. Things were stupid fast from the get-go again I tried to do my best to conserve for two laps and then move up with two laps to go. I knew it would be impossible to try to wait for the last lap to move up through the start finish uphill section. The last lap was utter chaos. People were blowing up left and right. Jeffrey Yates started the winning move on the right side of the downhill section, storming past everyone. I was caught in the middle of the group trying to weave through the pack. We hit that last corner at 32 miles an hour and used about every inch of the road. I was uncertain I was going to be able to keep it upright at that speed (fortunately we all did). I did a seated sprint the best I could ( I was cooked) and passed a couple more riders on the line, with Adam right behind me. I only hit a peak of 683 W. I think this race finish was 50% legs, 50% willingness to risk a nasty crash. The race finish was much more dangerous and chaotic than it would have been had there been lead-outs and  no mini- break after the crash. P11 for me out of a field of 32. I’m happy with that considering I felt very on the limit at points throughout the race.
