Long-time club member John Elgart has been absolutely crushing his competition this season. John has dominated road and track racing, winning virtually every national and district championship possible.

At masters road nationals, John won the road race, criterium, and time trial. (Isn't that every single event?) Warming up for nationals, John won the Clovis criterium and the Central Coast Circuit Race. Just before that, he won the points and scratch races at track nationals as well as the points and pursuit races at district track championships. John also won the district time trial in Sattley this summer.

Oh, yes, and cyclocross season is coming up soon. Here's a photo from last year when John won Cyclocross nationals.

Katheryn Curi Mattis is one of the world's most talented and accomplished road cyclists. Katheryn has had a long and successful professional racing career and been one of the dominant riders in the USA. After leading a multiple-lap solo breakaway at the world championships in Melbourne, Australia last year, Katheryn hung up her wheels and retired.

In her retirement, Katheryn has been coaching our women's bridge team. Quoting Mary Maroon's race report from this spring's Madera stage race, "Having Katheryn Curi Mattis as your directeur sportif is like having the Pope bless your water bottle."

On a lark, Katheryn decided to come out of retirement and race a couple races for fun. Proving she still has what it takes, Katheryn claimed second place in two highly competitive local races – the Giro di San Francisco and the Vacaville Gran Prix.

Katheryn will always be a role model for team and someone we can look up to for her leadership, results, and passion.
