2006 Pescadero Coastal Classic : Course

At the heart of the Classic is its epic course. This one has it all -- climbs to test your sustained power, descents to test your skill, rollers to probe your anaerobic limits, and spectacular scenery to complete the package. This is where it all comes together. This is where all the training, all the dedication, all the sacrifice pays off.

The main circuit starts in the town of Pescadero, proceeding clockwise around the loop. First you'll climb the twin hills of Stage Road with its spectacular coastal views. Then, a sharp right takes you onto Highway 84, where exposure makes wind a frequent factor. As you enter the redwoods, you turn onto Pescadero Road for the short climb to the intersection with Alpine Road. You stay on Pescadero Road, which turns right for the extended climb of Haskins Hill. The views from the summit are fantastic, but you'd better be focused on the task at hand, because the descent requires constant attention. From the bottom, it's rollers all the way back into the town of Pescadero. Repeat as necessary.... until the last lap, when it's a final, lactic-acid-drenched climb to the finishline on the Haskins Hill summit.

Are you ready for the pain? It's waiting....
